Welcome Back to School
On July 27, Livingston Parish Public Schools encouraged all parents to reach out to schools to discuss their child's schedule. Thanks to much cooperation by our parents, our schools were able to open on Aug. 7, as scheduled; and as of today, the enrollment in our schools has climbed to 26,150 students – that’s above what our enrollment was in February 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic first closed schools and businesses in March 2020. Our total enrollment count includes all students, whether in a hybrid model, virtual model or a five-day-a-week model.
Of our enrolled students, we currently have 2,559 students who have chosen 100% virtual instruction. Open enrollment for this format will end this Friday, Aug. 14. Moving forward, “late” enrollment in the 100% virtual instruction model will be dependent upon mitigating circumstances. This decision is necessary to stabilize our instructional processes, ensure that 100% virtual students have access to daily instruction, and to ensure these students have access to highly qualified virtual instructional facilitators, as well as their classroom teacher.
LPPS would like to thank our parents and community for their continued support, and for helping us have a great start to this new school year.
